LAWRENCE — Charges were brought against a Lawrence County man and woman after they were involved in a hit-and-run accident that cost a Johnson County man his life last month.
According to Kentucky State Trooper Sam Little, Wayne White and Charlene Blake were arrested after they were apprehended on McClure's Branch the day after the accident.
Blake was driving a Chevy S-10 loaded with furniture on March 28, when she apparently pulled into the path of Donald Litton and his wife, Phyllis, causing him to lose control and flip the Toyota Tacoma he was driving. Litton was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Coroner Mike Wilson.
Both Blake and White were charged with tampering with physical evidence. The tampering charge stemmed from Blake and White allegedly replacing a headlight damaged in the wreck, but Trooper Little said other damage done to the S-10 matched up.
Blake was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid. The incident is still under investigation by Trooper Ed Ginter.
