Castle knocks off Mississippi St.
Moves to 2-3 on season for UK
STARKSVILLE, Miss. — University of Kentucky's Heath Castle picked up his second win of the season last Saturday, and the Cats' first conference win, when he defeated the fifth-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs 8-2 in Starksville.


Castle went all nine innings, while giving up two runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out five in the win.

The 6'0", 220-pound southpaw, out of St. Catherine's Junior College, improved his record to 2-3 on the season in eight starts and sits on a 2.98 ERA with 33 strikeouts to his credit, holding his opponents to a .259 batting average. The Johnson Central alum is also errorless from the mound so far this season.

The Wildcats are now 13-18 on the season and 1-10 in the SEC as they are riding a two-game winning streak.

Kentucky hits the road today, Friday, to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide in a three-game series.
