LOUISA Area residents can catch a glimpse of the American bald eagle and its nest while also enjoying a houseboat ride on the lake.

Yatesville Lake State Park Marina is hosting their Eagle Watch Weekend May 16-18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The cost is $15 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.

The houseboat ride to and from the eagle nest takes approximately two to four hours and seating is limited so pre-registration is recommended.

The ride consists of eagle viewing, information stories, and activities. It is suggested, however, that people interested in this activity bring their binoculars and camera. A spotting scope will be provided.

Eagle Watch Weekend will also include food vendors, display booths, interactive venues and much more throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Interactive venues and booths are compliments of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Kentucky Disaster and Emergency Services, and Kentucky State Police.

A live eagle program presented by the Raptor Rehab will be Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Louisa Community Center. The cost is $7.

"This is a unique opportunity that is only available at Yatesville Lake," Yatesville Park Manager Mark Reeder said. "It is also an opportunity to see nature in all its glory."
