Paintsville High takes first in Regional Science Olympiad

PAINTSVILLE The Paints-ville High School Science Olympiad team took home a first place win in the Regional Science Olympiad held at Prestonsburg Community College on March 22. As a result of their first place finish, they were eligible to compete in the State Science Olympiad held in Bowling Green on April 12. Several members of the team took top spots at state.

John Compton and Ginny Fuller placed second in the state in Qualitative Analysis, and Sam Allen and Dustin Woods placed third in Disease Detectives. They were recognized as state winners and given medallions for their accomplishments.

Several other team members placed in the Top 10 in their respective events.

Dynamic Planet - 8th Jonathan Scott, Jeff Collett; Feathered Frenzy - 9th Lauren Damron, Jeff Collett; Experimental Design - 10th John Compton, Dustin Woods, Corey Music.
