University of Miami honors local actress
On May 8, Ashley Lauren Turner of Oil Springs will receive the Theatre Department Award from the University of Miami School of Arts and Sciences in Coral Gables, Fla. The award is given by the Theatre Department faculty to recognize the student with the highest grade point average who has been of most service to the Theatre Department.

As a student at UM from 1999-2003, Ashley was involved in every show either in performance, technical crew or management. Performance credit include: Palm Royale Dancer in The Miami Vaudeville Revue of 1926, Gladys in 42nd Street, and most recently as Sheila in A Chorus Line. She has been Assistant Manager for the Ring Theatre for the past three years and was Box Office Manager for Jenny Wiley Theatre last summer. Local theatre goers may remember Ashley from Jenny Wiley Theatre's cast of The Sound of Music, Grease, South Pacific, The King and I, Oliver and The Legend of Jenny Wiley.

Ashley will graduate with honors on May 9 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Management & Administration with an emphasis in Musical Theatre Performance, having completed the course requirements in both areas. Ashley is the daughter of Jenny and Ron Robinson of Oil Springs and Chuck and Jeannie Turner of Berea.
