T-GIFT (Technology Gift Incentive Foundation Team), a grassroots group that had its beginnings in the fall of 2001 at Berea's Brushy Fork Leadership Institute, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education in Floyd County. One of the ways in which the group funds its technology grants is through an annual spring banquet. This year, the T-GIFT Awards Banquet will be held at Jenny Wiley's May Lodge on Friday, June 6, at 6 p.m.

Featured speakers at this years banquet event will be noted Kentucky authors, David and Lalie Dick. David Dick spent 19 years with CBS news as a war correspondent. Lalie Dick was an employee of Revlon International. The two married in 1978, later leaving the "big city life" for the peaceful setting of a small Kentucky community. In 1992, they together founded Plum Lick Publishing. Their most recent book, "Rivers of Kentucky," was nominated for the 2002 Non-Fiction Book of the Year by the Southeast Booksellers Association. Some of the Dick's other works include: "The View from Plum Lick," "Peace at the Center," and "The Quiet Kentuckians."

Currently, Lalie also pens a column, "Kentucky Women," for the Farm Bureau's statewide newspaper, "All Around Kentucky." David currently serves as a columnist for "Kentucky Living" and "Appalachian Life" magazines. They reside in eastern Bourbon County on land purchased in 1799 by David's great-great-great grandfather.
