NHAN NGUYEN of Louisville, a graduate of Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine, receives his academic hood from Michael K. Murphy, D.O., FACOFP, professor of family medicine at the medical school and executive director of the Appalachian Osteopathic Post-Graduate Training Institute Consortium. Nguyen was one of 53 new physicians to receive his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree May 10. John Crosby, J.D., executive director of the American Osteopathic Association, delivered the commencement address. Crosby and J.W. Hammons, D.O., received Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees from the College. Dr. Hammons, who has practiced medicine for nearly 50 years, was among the first black physicians to practice in Lexington.
