Lawrence homemakers meet
by Ruth Ann Smith | The Lawrence County Homemakers' meeting took place at the Lawrence County Extension Education Building Tuesday, May 6.

The meeting was called to order and a welcome given by outgoing president Lois Land. The pledge to the American flag was led by Ruby Hart and the Homemakers Creed was led by Constance Queen. Introductions of past presidents were given by Land.

The financial report and a proposed budget were given by Ernestine LeCompte on behalf of Norma Brooks.

New officers were elected for 2003 - 2005.

They are president, Constance Queen; vice president, Alma Webb; secretary, Johnnie Lee; county secretary, Donna Randall; and treasurer, Ernestine LeCompte.

Awards were given for perfect attendance: Buchanan club, Betty Rice and Johnnie Lee; Dennis-Green Valley, Charline Kitchen and Alma Webb; Fallsburg club, Virginia Priode and Constance Queen; Louisa club, Audrey Frasher and Bobbie Meek; Smokey Valley club, Mary Ann Cyrus.

Guest speaker for the evening was Robin Wallace Johns.

The program was titled "Celebrating Our Mothers" and potluck was enjoyed by all.

Future Lawrence County Homemaker Events are as follows: Sock Monkey, May 19, at 10 a.m., fee, $4; Scrap booking and stamping, May 22, at 6 p.m., no fee; Farm and Home Field Day, June 20, farm of Kevin and Bernice McCormick, Rt. 3, Fallsburg Antiques and Collectibles, July 12, 2003 at 10 a.m. -1 p.m. Lawrence County Extension Education Building, fee: $10;
