Tomahawk family suffers over past year

TOMAHAWK A Tomahawk family has suffered a lot of tragedy over the last year.

Carl David Stafford, 42, of Hall Branch died Saturday after reportedly suffering a massive heart attack. Stafford reportedly had recovered from previous attacks.

Stafford's adopted son, Bradley, was injured when his bicycle reportedly hit a truck the Saturday before. Last year, his stepsister Ashley was injured when her automobile collided with a school bus on Route 40 at Beauty and is still recovering.

Stafford's wife, Connie, said last week that she was thankful her 11-year-old son had survived, but that he had "a lot of physical therapy to look forward to."

Stafford's son was released from the hospital the same day his stepfather had the massive heart attack. Connie Stafford has five children (Carl David; Bradley Emanuel; Auston David; Ashley Michell and Antoinette Ramichell) at home.

Her mother said Tuesday that "you have to go on" and "we are all trying to help support her as much as we can right now. It's hard."

Carl Stafford's funeral is scheduled for today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home Inez Chapel.
