Horse show scheduled

DRIFT — The Drift Womans Club was organized and federated in 1951. It is a civic organization to meet the needs of the community through a broad range of programs and projects.

The Drift Womans Club’s 35th annual horse show is its fundraiser and will be held July 7 at 7 p.m. at the Jenny Wiley Horse Show Lady Jane Arena located at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Rt. 80, going toward Jenny Wiley State Resort Park.

The horse show committee members are president Donna Allen and horse show managers Ruby Akers, Shirley Belcher, Roney Clark, Mary England, Celia Little, Alice Osborne, Shelia Pack and Gloria D. Salisbury.

Proceeds from this horse show will be used to present a $500 scholarship to a South Floyd High School senior. Other projects are art awards for the art department at McDowell Elementary; a Hoby Foundation for a high school sophomore; Alice Lloyd College; Special Olympics; yard of the month sign; St. Judes Bike-A-Thon; the KFWC Convention; and district workshops, charities and membership dinner.

The Drift Womans Club meets the third Monday at 6 p.m. at the Viola Bailey Community Center building.

The clubs and communities need the compassion and volunteer spirits, according to club members.
