Lawrence Democrat women host district meet

LOUISA — The Lawrence County Democrat Woman’s Club hosted a Fifth District meeting/luncheon May 15 at the Ramada Inn in Paintsville.

Director Pauline Blevins called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. The pledge of allegiance to the flag was led by Jan Rose Deweese. The Democratic Creed was led by Toni Canterbury.

Head table introductions were given by Blevins and present were first associate Janice Allen; second associate Rose Deskins; Kentucky Democratic Woman’s Club president Betty Sansun; acting secretary/treasurer Kathy Hinkle; and Ramona Williams, president of Lawrence County Democrat Woman’s Club.

The prayer was given by Hinkle and lunch was served.

Williams introduced Sansun as the guest speaker. Sansun gave an informational talk about family raised to be proud Democrats and that women are the backbone of the party and women make it work.

Also recognized was the traveling companion for the state president, Helen Morgan.
