U.S.M.C Pfc. Jason L. Cox completed his basic training at Parris Island; S.C., May 16.

He will now go to Camp Lejune, N.C., for his combat training. From there he will go to Pensacola, Fla., for 14 weeks, then return to Cherry Point, N.C., to finish his high-tech aviation training.

Cox is the son of John T. and Joan Cox. He has two brothers, John Patrick and James Logan Cox, and a sister, Joeletta May Cox. He is the grandson of Jay Cox and the late Sarah (Spurlock) Cox. Maternal grandparents were the late Joe and Dorothy (Young) Fields.

He is a 2002 graduate of LCHS.
