Elkins to attend WV Governor's Honor Academy

Ashley Nicole Elkins, a junior at Tolsia High School, was recently selected to attend the 2003 West Virginia Governorís Honors Academy that will be held June 29 through July 20 at Marshall University.

Only 165 students were selected from nearly 20,000 11th-grade students to participate in this exciting pre-college experience.

Elkins serves as secretary of her junior class and is a member of various organizations at Tolsia High School, including the National Honor Society, National Beta Club (treasurer), MU Alpha Theta (vice president), Students Against Drunk Drivers and Spanish Club. She also serves on the United Way of the River Cities Youth Advisory Board and is a member of the Silver Creek United Baptist Youth Choir. She has participated in several high school leadership academies, and served as a volunteer for many community-based organizations.

Elkins is the daughter of Emma Baisden from Crum, W. Va.
