More names added to list of drug suspects in West Virginia sweep
by Roberta Blevins

FORT GAY, W.Va. — More names have been released from last Friday’s drug raid in Fort Gay, W.Va.

According to Captain Todd Elliott from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, those people include:

• Robert Locklear of Louisa, who is still at large.

• William (Hoss) Bowen of Dunlow, W.Va., also at large.

• Robert (Lee) Evans of Fort Gay, also at large.

• Ewings (Butch) Fowler of Louisa.

Fowler is currently lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center after turning himself in to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday and was served with an indictment by Sheriff Garrett Roberts on charges of DUI and trafficking in an unknown substance after a traffic stop last year.

Approximately two months prior to the drug sweep, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police had been making undercover drug buys, according to authorities. Wayne County Sheriff Dave Pennington said officers were able to purchase heroin, cocaine, OxyContin and other narcotics.

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback,” Elliott said. “We want people to know drugs will not be tolerated in Wayne County. We’re not stopping here. We hope to put a damper on the drug problem.

Anyone with information about drug activity in the Wayne County area can call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, West Virginia State Police, the FBI task force or the local police department.
