Three LC students make UK Dean's List
LEXINGTON The University of Kentucky recognizes the outstanding academic performance of its students, including three students from Lawrence County who were named to the UK Dean's List for the spring semester 2003.

To make a Dean's List in one of the UK colleges, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes. Some UK colleges require a 3.5 GPA to make the Dean's List.

"UK is always pleased to tout the academic success of its students, such as those who have been named to the spring 2003 Dean's List," said UK President Lee T. Todd Jr. "When our students excel, it reflects well on themselves, their parents, the high schools from which they graduated, and our faculty at the university. It's a success story well worth telling."

For the spring semester, 3,316 students from 46 states, 113 of Kentucky's counties and 100 foreign countries were named to the University of Kentucky Dean's List.

The UK students from Lawrence County on the UK Dean's List, their majors and colleges are Amy Lauran Barnette, now of Lexington, senior, nursing, College of Nursing; Julia Louise Hinkle, Louisa, senior, agriculture education, communication and leadership, College of Agriculture; George Joseph Oberlick IV, Louisa, senior, psychology, College of Arts and Sciences.
