Blackwell named Highlands CFO

PRESTONSBURG — Jack Blackwell has been named chief financial officer (CFO) of Highlands Regional Medical Center and Consolidated Health Systems in Prestonsburg.

Blackwell was previously employed by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland for 21 years in various capacities related to finance, most recently as the director of accounting. Blackwell brings a wealth of experience to the CFO position, having a career that spans years of changes in regulatory and reimbursement issues impacting hospital finances.

When asked what attracted him to the position at Highlands, Blackwell said: “In many ways, I find Highlands similar to Our Lady of Bellefonte when it was owned by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor. Highlands is locally owned and managed and is similar in size to Bellefonte. I had worked with Bud (Bud Warman, President and CEO of HRMC/CHS) previously when he was the assistant administrator of Our Lady of Bellefonte and I liked his management style. Highlands is run very efficiently and the financial statements reflect this fact. I believe Highlands is poised to do great things and I am excited to be here and be a part of this growing organization.”
