View the night sky through a telescope

The East Kentucky Science Center will conduct its next Star Party Friday, July 25, on Maggie Mountain, near the StoneCrest Golf Course parking lot, Prestonsburg. See the summer Milky Way and other splendors of the night sky through the Science Centerís telescopes. Science Center staff will point out constellations and other objects in the night sky. Feel free to ask questions.

The Star Party will begin around at 9:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Signs will be posted along the road up Maggie Mountain to the observation site. Please bring red lens flashlights only to the Star Party. White light limits night-time viewing.

Weather predications indicate a clear night for viewing. If the sky is partly clouded and stars are visible, the event will be held as planned. However, the event will be cancelled in case of rain. For cancellation notices, listen to local radio stations, call the Science Center at (606) 889-0303, or visit the Centerís website at http://www.wedoscience.org

Star Parties are part of the Science Centerís Mobile Observatory Outreach Education Program and are made possible through the assistance of the East Kentucky Regional GEAR-UP Project, Music-Carter automotive dealership and Citizens National Bank.
