PAINTSVILLE The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Genesis M. Osborne of Stambaugh has been named a United States National Award winner in history and government.

This award is a prestigious honor very few students ever attain. The academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American students.

Osborne attends Johnson Central Middle School and was nominated for the award by William Ailiff, a social studies teacher at the school.

Osborne is the daughter of Vanroy and Sandra Osborne of Stambaugh, and the granddaughter of Charles and Geraldine Davis of Stambaugh and Alvin and Bonnie Osborne of McDowell.

Her name will appear in the USAA official yearbook, which is published nationally.
