Bethany Ann McCoy completed the 2003 Rogers Scholars program at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, over the past week. Beth was chosen to represent Martin County and she was involved in many activities.
The Rogers Scholars Program is an intensive one week summer session for rising high school juniors from 42 counties in southern and eastern Kentucky that emphasizes technological skills development and fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, leadership and commitment to rural Kentucky.
Rogers Scholars will interact with state and national leaders and work with high-quality instructors.
Beth went through a series of workshops that emphasized teambuilding and leadership activities. Some of the activities that she was included in were a personal finance session with Citizens National Bank, a presentation by Bill Deaton of Image Entry, an Interactive Software Program with Kathy Moats of the EKU Small Business Development Center and a Career Exploration Session, including presentations by John Chowning, Vice President and Executive Assistant to the President at Campbellsville University, and Dr. Jo Marshall, President of Somerset Community College.
