MARTIN COUNTY FAIR Board Member Candy Crum told the Greater Martin County Kiwanis that the fair began 28 years ago in November 1975. That year Elizabeth Newberry submitted at application to make Inez a Bi-Centennial Community as part of the Keep American Beautiful campaign. Crum said that Martin County was one of only four counties in the state to receive the Bi-Centennial Community award that year. The Martin County Fair ends on Aug. 9 with a parade at 1 p.m. and a performance by Shanendoah at 9 p.m.
