Fort Gay Alumni Banquet set

FORT GAY, W Va — The Fort Gay High School Alumni Association will hold its annual banquet Friday, Aug 29, at the Tolsia High School commons room at 4:30 pm.

WFGH radio station will be celebrating its 30th year on the air by offering tours of the station during the reception. These tours will be conducted by Hazel Damron. Also during the reception, Sarah Elizabeth Wellman, the 2003 scholarship winner, will be present to meet with people attending the banquet. Harold Keith Spears, assistant to the president of Marshall University and graduate of Fort Gay High School, will attend this year’s event. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Price of the dinner will be $25 per person. Included in the price is a ticket to the Sock Hop to be held at the Fort Gay Middle School commons room after the banquet. Reservations should be received no later than Aug. 22.

Many events will be going on during the evening along with door prizes given. Tickets are on sale for the cross stitch picture donated by Irene Branham Lowe of the class of 1940. The picture is of Fort Gay High School when it was first built. Tickets are $1 a piece or six for $5. The picture will be given away at the reception held on Saturday night by the Fort Gay Area Women’s Club at the Fort Gay Middle School commons room.
