Floyd County

Restaurant, school and mobile home park inspections are performed by Floyd County Health Department Environmentalists Russell Wallace and Scott Young.



Oct. 2



Hometown IGA, Stanville—90

Critical violation: Back entrance door has gap at the bottom large enough to allow entrance of insects. Must be corrected in 10 days at follow-up visit.

Thermometers not present in all refrigeration and freezer units; food items observed stored on the floor throughout store; proper hair restraints not in use in meat processing area; floors in disrepair; and light not working in walk-in freezer.



Velocity Market #2, Betsy Layne—86

Critical violation: Back entrance door needs repair, large gap noted, allowing entrance of insects and rodents. Must be corrected in 10 days at follow-up visit.

Walk-in refrigeration has no thermometer; food contact countertop surface in bad repair; food items noted on floor; leak noted at drain at three compartment sink; no soap at hand wash sink of meat processing area; restroom door not self-closing; floors and ceiling in disrepair.

Jerry’s Market, Grethel—94

Several refrigeration units without easily seen thermometers; bag of dog food stored on floor; restroom door not self-closing; and walk-in cooler without proper lighting.

Buildup of dust and grease on equipment; Food prep area floor in disrepair; ceiling tiles soiled and/or missing; and trash and debris piled outside.
