The Pumpkin Art Contest is open to all school-aged children who are asked to draw or paint a picture or create a painted or carved work of art with pumpkins as its theme.

It can feature a jack o’lantern, pumpkin patch, cornucopia, pumpkin head doll, etc. — let your imagination guide your creativity.

All entries must be submitted to the Big Sandy Coffee Shop or Lawrence County Arts Council no later than Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Remember to include a card with your name, school, grade, age and phone number. Please remember neatness counts.

There will be ribbons and cash savings bonds for the winners from each school division with a special presentation ceremony and the artwork will be displayed at the Big Sandy Coffee Shop for the public to enjoy.

The contest is sponsored by the Lawrence County Arts Council and Big Sandy Coffee Shop.

LCAC would like to thank all the poets who entered the Patriotic Poetry Contest. The poetry reading night at the Big Sandy Coffee Shop was so much fun we’ve decided to do it again.

The subject for November’s poems are being thankful and/or counting our blessings. All poems must be submitted by Saturday, Nov. 22, to LCAC at the Winter Wonderland Festival.
