LOUISA — The Lawrence County Democrat Woman’s Club met Oct. 2 at the courthouse for its regular monthly meeting.
President Ramona Williams called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. Kim Compton led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.
Secretary and treasurer reports were given and approved. The ways and means committee chairman reported on the summer board meeting attended by Williams, Tina Jackson and Pauline Blevins. She also reported on Septemberfest and the silent auction.
Mark Jackson gave a report on the successful bike tour held Sept. 27-28 and which began at Yatesville Marina. Laura Gray reported on upcoming events.
Williams gave a report on the upcoming Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner Oct. 14 in Ashland. She also gave the nominating committee for the upcoming year of officers and reminded everyone of the Christmas surprise basket.
Vice president Patty Sullivan introduced guest speaker Donna Childers, advisor for Three Rivers Senior Circle of Louisa. She told about the benefits of belonging to this organization, both with discounts and friendship.
The next meeting will be held Nov. 6, at the Lawrence County Courthouse at 7:30 p.m.
