Groundbreaking ceremony

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONIES for the new Family Life Center to be built by members of the First United Methodist Church in Paintsville were held Sunday, Nov. 22.

The building committee accepted and revised bids over the last few months, with the bid ultimately being awarded to L.T. Goggans Construction. Pictured are members of the building committee and finance committee. In the front row, left to right, are Debra Massengale, Nancy McKenzie, Bob Hutchison, Rev. Jim Dayton, Anna Melvin and Julie Love, district church and community worker for the First United Methodist Church. In the back row, left to right, are Roger Massengale, Dennis Dorton, Bill Duke and architect Terry Simmons. Included in plans for the new facility are a full-service elevator and commercial kitchen along with a stage and multi-media system to be utilized by various groups affiliated with the church.
