A country Christmas

Mayor Doug Pugh and the City workers have done an excellent job of decorating the downtown this year. We would like to invite you to attend our Country Christmas Celebration at the Johnson County Courthouse on Monday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m.

Paintsville Main Street, Johnson County Fiscal Court and the City of Paintsville will be sponsoring a tree lighting ceremony and Christmas program with the following events taking place:

Free horse drawn carriage rides by Lexington Livery from 6 - 9 p.m.

Performance by Pikeville College Concert Choir, 6 - 6:30 p.m.

Johnson County Elementary School, 6:30-7 p.m.

Johnson County Christian School, 7-7:30 p.m..

Tom's Creek Freewill Baptist Church, 7:30 - 8 p.m.

Paintsville High School, 8 - 8:20 p.m.

Paintsville Elementary, 8:20 - 8:40 p.m.

Johnson Central High School Band, 8:40 - 9 p.m.

Pictures and visit with Santa by Photo Magic from 6-9 p.m.

Pictures can be purchased on carriage rides, free cookies and hot chocolate (Johnson County 4-H Teen Club will be helping serve refreshments).

To add to the celebration, on Wednesday, Dec. 10, we will be hosting the Lexington Philharmonic Christmas Concert. The historic Sipp Theatre in downtown Paintsville will come alive with the sounds of this musical extravaganza.

Tickets prices are adult advance, $15, ($18 at door); student/child, $10 advance ($15 at door); and senior citizens, $12. You may purchase tickets at Citizens National Bank on Main Street, Johnson County Public Library, Paintsville Main Street Office, Paintsville Tourism Office or from any Main Street board member.
