Hospice care center to open in Ashland

ASHLAND — Community Hospice of Ashland is expanding services to now provide a choice for terminally ill patients by opening the area’s first Hospice Care Center, located at 2330 Pollard Road, in Ashland.

The Hospice Care Center is a short-term facility where the staff will provide comfort care which will include management of pain and symptoms, during the last phases of life. It is a home and a choice where patients and families will receive compassionate support.

Community Hospice currently provides services for terminally ill patients in Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, and Lawrence counties in Kentucky and Lawrence County in Ohio. They are abiding by their mission statement to provide quality end-of- life care to our terminally ill. This includes expanding this agency to offer a place for patients who do not wish or cannot remain at home when facing a life threatening illness.

“Through the vision, energy, and support of our director, Susan Hunt, and staff, our board of directors and hundreds of contributors and community volunteers, the Hospice Care Center is now a reality,” says Angelia Clark, director of development.
