New equipment

Highlands Regional Medical Center's auxiliary has donated over $100,000 since January 2003 to purchase needed equipment. Equipment purchased with auxiliary donations included a new Contrast Injector Management System for the cardiac catheterization lab; surgical equipment, including a new insufflator that maintains even pressure in the abdomen during laparoscopic Nissin procedures, a new digital recording system with a flat screen monitor for clearer pictures of procedures, a recorder to produce CDs of procedures, and an equipment cart; 10 chairs for outpatient surgery; a fetal monitor for the OB department; a procedure table and portable whirlpool for physical therapy; vital signs monitors for Pathways; eight emergency crash carts and various other items. Auxiliary donations are made possible by their operation of the hospital's gift shop and other fundraising activities.
