Local teachers, students attend MPATE Day

01/03/2007 - LOUISA — Lawrence County High School teachers John Baumgardner and Doug Klein along with 18 students attended Morehead State University's MPATE Day on Nov. 1.

Outstanding juniors and seniors interested in mathematics, physics and engineering were invited to participate. Teams of students participated from different schools and prizes were awarded to teams that achieved the highest scores on their explorations. Fifteen companies contributed support to Morehead State University's mathematics, physics, and technology departments to make MPATE Day possible.

The program is also designed to inspire dedicated teachers who are looking for ways to excite students about careers in these disciplines.

Lawrence County Students participating included Michelle Balaklaw, John Baldwin, Stephen Borders, Steven Carter, Jason Delong, Anthony Fitch, Nolan Fitch, Elizabeth Heston, Jason Holbrook, Daniel Howard, Marc Lester, Donovan Nix, Hye Lim Park, Cody Patrick, Sarah Prince, Hope Reuschel, Jeconiah Staniford, and Justin Staniford.
