Martin County Saddle Club hosts first meet

01/19/2007 - INEZ — Inez City Commissioner Kenneth Goforth and others held their first meeting of the newly formed Martin County Saddle Club Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Inez City Hall.

The group plans to meet on a regular basis and invites new members. The first meeting was for the purpose of electing officers and to accept members. Approximately 34 people attended the meeting.

The following officers were elected: Goforth, president; Jimmy Dale Allen, vice president; Steve Byers, chaplin; Donnie Howard and Wence Preece, trail bosses; Bill Preece and Larry Cain, trustees; and Mark Howard and Darriel Young, members of the committee to acquire land for trail rides.

Each meeting will be held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.

The next meeting will be held Feb. 6 at 6 p.m., in the basement at the Church of God, located on Rt. 40, beside Mooney's Bait Shop.

"Come join us and look for more exciting things to come from the Martin County Saddle Club," secretary Maddie Howard said. "It's going to be a lot of fun."
