White Coat Ceremony

(click for larger version)
11/02/2007 - AMANDA LEE PRATER, a Johnson County resident, entered into a rite of passage in her journey toward a career in pharmacy on Sept. 7 at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy. At that time, she joined her classmates — the Class of 2011 — in the annual White Coat Ceremony. The ceremony officially welcomes entering pharmacy students into the profession of pharmacy and marks the transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences. This involves a formal "robing" or "cloaking" of students in white coats, which physicians have traditionally worn for over 100 years and other health professions have adopted. Prater is the wife of Jason Prater of Floyd County, and the daughter of Mike and Bonnie Howell of Staffordsville.
