The Lawrence County Arts Council is sponsoring its first One Man Show for 2008 featuring Bruce "Briar" Combs.

Opening night is Saturday, Feb. 2, between 4 and 7 p.m. by invitation, to meet Bruce personally and see this talented award-winning artist's diverse body of artwork.

The show will continue throughout the month of February, which will give everyone a chance to enjoy it at the Painted Cow Gallery.

Featured artwork by Bruce is predominately framed and matted watercolor prints, note cards and booklets of his favorite paintings. There will also be some beautiful originals including pastels, acrylics and oils and all very moderately priced.

When Bruce first attended one of our evening watercolor workshops two years ago, he was still recovering from a stroke. Since then, Bruce has attended LCAC's artist work day every Tuesday and has been an inspiration to the other artists, as well as very entertaining due to his quirky personality. His artistic talent is outstanding; no wonder he was an art teacher for 30 years.

Between his talent and wonderful sense of humor, he's been a wonderful addition to the community.

Unfortunately, Bruce and his family are relocating to Tennessee soon. He will be sorely missed.

That's why LCAC chose February as a special Valentine to a very special artist for the One Man Show at the gallery, for we love Bruce.
