01/30/2008 - LAWRENCE COUNTY HIGH School students who scored proficient or distinguished were recognized Friday evening at the Lawrence County High School vs. Johnson Central High School basketball game. Three hundred and fifty-seven students received invitations to be recognized at the game. Students and their parents were also invited for dinner before the game. The students and one parent used their invitation as a free pass for the game. Students received T-shirts with a "Making the Big Time" logo designed by the district in their honor. T-shirts were purchased by Inez Deposit Bank. Between games, students formed a circle around the ends of the gym floor and were joined by high school principal James Boggs and assistant principal Debbie Delong. Board members Laura Parker and Jim See also joined high school staff in honoring the students. Middle school students will be recognized at the basketball game on Feb. 1 and elementary students will be recognized on Feb. 8.
