Man arrested after threatening to 'start a war' with West Valley police

WEST VALLEY CITY – A man with a history of domestic violence has been arrested again, this time for threatening to “start a war” with the West Valley City Police Department.

Kevin Jacob Angle, 38, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Tuesday on charges of making terroristic threats, threats of violence, violating a protective order and fleeing from police.

On Monday, the West Valley Police Department received a voicemail from Angle in which he expressed frustration about his previous charges, according to a police booking affidavit.

“(He) said he would start a war against the city of West Valley. (Angle) said it would be a massacre and would terrorize West Valley City. The suspect also said that if the West Valley City Police Department did not do so, he would take control of his girlfriend. Either way, he will be forced to take care of it,” the affidavit alleged.

Police say there is an active protective order against the woman Engle is referring to.

He was charged Nov. 6 in Third District Court with violating that protective order, according to court records. He was also accused of threatening the woman with violence on Sept. 11, telling her “he was going to kill her and beat her up,” according to charging documents.

Angle was also charged with assault in a third domestic violence case in July, according to court records. His extensive criminal history in Utah dates back to 2005.

When police went to arrest Angle on Tuesday, he ran from them, the affidavit said, but was quickly tracked down and taken into custody.
